Angola’s Port of Caio is expected to start operating at the beginning of 2019 – a full year ahead of schedule. This is thanks to significant development progress made in terms of the base infrastructure in addition to support provided by the Angolan government, its Ministry of Transport, provincial government and China’s Export-Import Bank.

Once completed, the deepwater port – together with the other existing ports in Angola – is predicted to serve a key role in the country’s economic development as well as job creation by boosting cargo-handling capacity.

This will make exports cheaper and easier to manage, and result in a projected 30% increase in trade and the availability of around 1 600 direct jobs for the operation of the port.
