MAURITIUS The Le Morne Brabant peninsula on the south-western tip of the country is renowned for its natural beauty and exquisite beaches. During the early 19th Century, it was a place of refuge for escaped slaves. In 2008 the peninsula’s 556m-high mountain, also called Le Morne Brabant, was included as a World Heritage site by Unesco.
