Cape Town’s landmark DHL Stadium in Green Point is getting a new neighbour.

Construction has started on a ZAR2 billion mixed-use development known as The Granger, reports Moneyweb.

While it is not related to the V&A Waterfront’s ZAR20 billion development of the Granger Bay precinct, The Granger is aiming to become to become a focal point for business, hospitality and urban living in the area. It is sited on one of the last undeveloped pieces of land in Cape Town’s CBD.

Its developers – Devmark Property Group and the Feenstra Group – say the complex will feature a 190-room international hotel, 200 apartments, 14 000m2 of P-grade (prime) office space and 3 000m2 of retail space.

‘The stadium is already a major asset, but presently feels a bit isolated,’ says Hein Ehlers, executive chair of Devmark Property Group. He believes that by integrating hotels, retail and office spaces to complement the stadium, The Granger will transform the area.
