Future growth The second phase of a programme to drive inclusive, climate-resilient economic growth in Kenya has received a EUR294 million boost. The AfDB has signed off on the loan for the continuation of the East African country’s Economic Inclusion and Green Recovery Support programme, according to Africa Business Communities. Developed with input from government as well as key development institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank, the programme will support governance reforms in public financial management, fiscal transparency, debt reporting, public procurement and financial integrity. In addition, it aims to promote women’s economic empowerment, support growth of small businesses, stimulate job creation and strengthen Kenya’s transition to a greener economy. ‘Kenya has demonstrated resilience in navigating a challenging global environment while continuing to pursue important reforms to strengthen its economy and create opportunities for its people,’ says AfDB governance director Abdoulaye Coulibaly. 21 July 2026 Image: Unsplash
