Queen’s College in Lagos has become the third federal government school in Nigeria to launch an internet of things (IoT) centre to upskill its learners.

According to AllAfrica, the launch forms part of an ICT training initiative by the Ministry of Education and the Unites Cisco Networking Academy – an organisation that aims to develop Nigerian youths in the use, support and maintenance of ICT.

‘Our goal is to see the education sector embrace the use of new technologies to meet the human resource requirements of the nation for attaining sustainable socio-economic development, global competitiveness as well as the individual’s ability to survive in the contemporary society,’ says Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

He adds that three more IoT centres are planned, with the goal of introducing a greater number of learners to ICT-enhanced education.
