Daily traffic snarls will hopefully belong in the past on completion of a 6.2 km bridge connecting commuters in Dar es Salaam. This comes after the signing of an MoU between Tanzania and Korea.

The new US$107 million, four-lane Selander Bridge is expected to offer road users travelling from outlying areas surrounding Dar es Salaam easier access to the CBD. The bridge will stretch from Coco Beach area to Aga Khan Hospital, with a section passing over the Indian Ocean.

According to a Pulse News report, the project forms part of Korea’s Economic Development Co-operation Fund and will be built by South Korean firm GS Engineering and Construction Corp.

Construction will commence during the course of this year, with a completion date scheduled for 2021.
