    Renewed force

Copper and silver concentrate production has resumed at the Kombat mine in Namibia, after years of inactivity following severe underground flooding in 2008.

Canadian miner Trigon Metals revived the mine in December 2021, announcing a new mineral resource of 39.1 million tons at Kombat.

During its operations between 1962 and 2008, the mine produced 12.46 million tons of ore.

It is expected that the restarted plant will produce 4 000 tons of copper concentrate this year. The first concentrate shipments are planned for the end of January. Full commercial production is forecast for March 2022, as production ramps up and systems are optimised.
