    Better connection

Network connectivity in Namibia is set for a NAD110 million boost with a three-year plan to instal 30 new telecoms towers across the country.

ITWeb reports that according to Powercom, Namibia’s telecoms infrastructure company, the Southern African country will require up to 300 new telecoms towers over the next five years.

‘This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in the unserved and underserved areas of our country by providing access to network connectivity,’ Minister of Information and Communications Technology Emma Theofelus said at an ICT stakeholders forum in Windhoek at the beginning of April.

The minister has also allocated NAD20 million towards establishing a cybersecurity incidence response team to better equip the country to respond to and manage cyberthreats, reports Africa Telecom Review.

An additional NAD15 million has been earmarked for the implementation of a 5G strategy to prepare for next-generation mobile networks.
