Class in session A new affordable private school will soon be opening its doors to pupils in Cape Town, South Africa. Opening in January 2026, Apex Pinelands will welcome an initial cohort of 100 Grade R–8 learners, but when the construction of the new campus is fully completed at the end of 2026, the school will accommodate up to 1 720 learners up to Grade 12. The campus is located in Conradie Park, Pinelands, and is being developed in partnership with Concor, reports Businesstech. The first set of learners will attend classes in a heritage hall until construction is completed. The school is part of Concor’s redevelopment of the old Conradie hospital complex into a 55 ha mixed-use precinct called Conradie Park. The school is run by non-profit education organisation Apex Education, which launched in 2018 as a no-fee public school. It introduced its bespoke its blended learning model during Covid and opened its flagship private campus in Stellenbosch in 2024. The fees – about R650 a month – are kept low by standardising learning materials and using digital resources. 2 December 2025 Image: Pexels
