Botswana is making the move online, with more than 400 of its government services going digital.

The government is spending US$11.8 million to make the transition online, reports ITWeb. A total of 170 services have already successfully been moved to digital, and will be rolled out in phases to the public. Another 140 services will be digitalised by the end of 2024.

Citizens will be able to apply online for national identity cards, education, and licences, according to President Mokgweetsi Masis.

Fifteen youth-owned businesses in Botswana have been hired to work on the project.

‘The opportunity is right for the growth of digitalisation in the country and we are hoping that more services will move online to create ample opportunities for our young people,’ says Helen Chilisa, deputy permanent secretary in the  entrepreneurship ministry.
