Namibia has taken delivery of a range of materials to combat the country’s recent spike in COVID-19 infections, including PPE, antigen tests and intensive-care beds.

The Southern African nation received the medical equipment from Germany, Belgium and Finland, after the Ministry of International Relations and Co-operation submitted a request for emergency assistance to the European Commission’s Civil Protection Mechanism, which aims to improve prevention, preparedness and response to disasters.

According to the Namibian Economist, goods included 2.36 million masks, 200 000 protective visors, 30 000 medical gowns, 100 000 syringes and 189 000 swabs.
