A South African tertiary-education provider is to host a global certification programme for innovators who are addressing urgent healthcare challenges.

The Durban-based Regent Business School, a private institution focused on postgraduate management education, is partnering with German medical device company Siemens Healthineers to launch the Innovative Think Tank (ITT) certification programme in South Africa. It is the first higher-education institution in the country to host this initiative, which is operational in 72 locations across the globe.

The think tank will select 40 participants to develop innovative solutions to obstacles within the country’s healthcare sector, and will provide the world-recognised certification on completion of the seven-day course.

Regent’s employability unit, iLeadLABs, is designing an ‘innovation space’ to support the prototyping and production of some of the innovations, according to Bizcommunity.

The course will be conducted in hybrid format, via virtual lessons and at the iLeadLABs, under the leadership of global head of Siemens Healthineers ITT, Sultan Haide.
