    Balance of power

Work on a renewable energy plant to feed into the main transmission and distribution substation in northern Mozambique has started.

The 41 MWp Central Solar Metoro power plant will supplement the national grid,  boosting power to the Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces by connecting to the Metoro town substation.

The US$56 million project is jointly owned by Mozambique’s state-owned Electricidade de Moçambique, and Neoen, a French independent producer of renewable energy.

Construction is expected to last 11 months and create up to 370 jobs. The facility will enter service in late 2020 and create 30 permanent jobs during the scheduled service lifetime of 25 years.
