A 2MW data centre will be built in Rwanda.

The facility, a venture by Africa Data Centres, will be purpose built in Kigali to meet growing demand in the region. ‘Our decision to build a data centre in Kigali was an easy one, given Rwanda’s robust economic recovery post the COVID-19 pandemic and the Government of Rwanda’s focus on digital transformation,’ says Tesh Durvasula, Africa Data Centres CEO.

Once complete, the centre will have 2MW of IT load, which will serve the local enterprise market. Durvasula says the project offers a stable data centre environment. ‘[The market] will also be able to make the most of global connectivity through a range of global service providers and cloud service providers.’

The project is expected to break ground next year.
