Portal to good health A planned new portal powered by artificial intelligence (AI) aims to ease access to data on emerging diseases and other health issues on the continent. The Africa Health Knowledge Management Portal is a project of the Africa Centres for Disease Control (Africa CDC), which says a pilot project is already under way in some member countries. ITWeb reports that the hub – a collaboration with the Rockefeller and Mastercard foundations – will act as a one-stop shop for key public health resources, such as data, research and policy insights The hub will offer multilingual translation, search tools, a chatbot and real-time document comparison to make public health information easier to access. ‘This portal is not just a knowledge repository site. It’s a smart system built to catalyse evidence-based decision-making, empower national health systems and boost regional knowledge exchange and cooperation,’ said Mosoka Papa Fallah, acting director of science and innovation at Africa CDC. 5 August 2025 Image: Unsplash
